Secret Grinch Swag!

Our group of knitting gal’s {and one guy, who is not a knitter} decided we would do a Secret Grinch swap, where we had to spend $50 minimum on our Grinch partner. And I’m just so happy with all my Secret Grinch swag, that it gets it’s own post {that and I forgot, like usual, to take photos of the swag I made….} Jen was my Secret Grinch, and if you’re on Ravelry, I suggest you check out her page {her username is splynk}

My awesome swag included:

Gorgeous wrist-cuff with lovely embroidery! Jen handspun the brown background yarn, and hand-dyed the green for the stems of the flowers! For more photos of this freaking amazing wrist-cuff, check out my Flickr Photostream.

A super soft, beautiful cowl that’s nice, lacey and long. Here’s it’s wrapped around 3 times and held with the hand-carved wooden button {that’s removable!} You can also see my awesome new earrings, bright orange yarn-balls!

“Mystery Beast” yarn, with a mixture of wool and a touch of silk. Jen lovingly hand-spun this, and made it into a thicker ply too! {I’m not always a sucker for laceweight!}. The photo does the plethura of colours an injustice, I will get a better photo in the daylight.

My brand new, violet/plum/burgandy/pink/wine coloured Silk & Merino blend wrist-warmers! And oooh, they are super soft and warm! I got complimented on them today by my Midwife!

And last but not least, the orange yarn-ball earrings, which I’ve been wearing for most of the day, and plan on wearing them to work! I love the fact that they are bright orange! I wouldn’t pick orange for myself, but they really catch your attention and I love the shade!

I think this was the best “Christmas” ever! I always forget how awesome it is to receive hand-made gifts! It just makes you feel really warm and giddy inside, knowing that someone sleuthed you out and made you gifts in colours you love, designs you’d wear and all with love!

Sock Wars?

I got this link from a friend online, and I thought that some people would be interested! XD It’s call Sock Wars and it’s the third time round it’s going on. You get an unposted, “never seen before” sock pattern and you make a pair of socks and “Do Battle.”

I thought, if anyone, Holly would be interested! I’m not too into socks right now, but it’s still really awesome!

Shimmer, shimmer

I started Knitty’s Shimmer by Rebecca Hatcher. I like the pattern so far, I’m not sure if I like the yarn I’m using. I’m trying to use my Eco-Fil yarn, in white. I’m not sure I’ll have enough and I’m not sure that it will be a good choice, as seeing that it’s 70% Recycled Cotton and cotton seems to act differently when wearing it.

Oh well, if I don’t have enough, I’ll just find some other yarn to use. I’m a pack rat when it comes to yarn, but I’m not smart enough to buy more than one or two balls of each stuff — which means I have single balls of yarn that sit around and do nothing.

It’s sad. I should put them all on my Ravelry and see if anyone else can use them. They are lonely for loving.

Crafting update

Well, I’ve been crafting most the weekend, putting off as much homework as possible! XD I like to stress myself out, really, it makes life interesting…>__< Anyway, I have yet to finish my Rainbow Gym-Sock IV. Why, you may ask, is it called as such? Well, the yarn is rainbow-ish, more red, really. And I tend to only knit it when I'm at the gym on the bike. And it's the fourth time I've ripped it out and started again. ^__^ Here's a lovely photo of my foot in the sock:

Anyway, that sock has been put on hold for a bit. I’m too lazy to go to the gym without my brother or someone with me. So, instead, I am working on Tricia’s baby blanket. Which is no longer knitted, instead it’s a big crochetted star! ^__^ It’s very adorable, I want one for myself! To top it off, Tricia has had her little baby boy early. His name is Austin Graham and he was born on the 11th of Feb. I haven’t heard anything about the baby shower yet, so I’m going to keep assuming that it’s in March, and just try to get the blanket done before then. It’s about halfway done now.

In other great news, I’ve taken up the art of “Sculpey.” Sculpey is fantastic, it makes me giggle like a little girl thinking about how cute everything is! I’ve been making some charms from a great tutorial by Oborochan. She is fantastic! Her charms are fantastic! And now my charms aren’t fantastic, but very very cute! Here are a few that are done, and some that are being worked on.

Two more are waiting to be glazed. I have a Giraffe and a Bunny that need glaze {update: seen glazed in the photo}. A kitty that needs a first coat of paint, an Usagi from Disgaea2 that needs more coats of white, and an ugly devil skull that I made for a friend, James, that needs more paint. Plus a little ball charm that I may or may not paint {update: is now an orange}. ^__^

Anyway, back to school work, I’ve deviated long enough….
